FAQs
1. What are the black streaks on my roof?
The black streaking on your roof is a type of algae called Gloeocapsa Magma. This intrusive algae feeds on the limestone filler in your shingles and grows and darkens until treated. It is spread by wind and animals from roof to roof and almost impossible to prevent. Without treatment these algae will take years off the life of your roof, along with reducing property value and curb appeal.
2. What does it mean to be a “green cleaning solution”?
At Renew Reuse Roof Cleaners it is our first priority to make sure that we keep your property environmentally safe. We follow the proper roof cleaning chemical standards set by the Asphalt Roof Manufacturers Association. Our cleaning chemicals used are bio-degradable and environmentally safe. Even though our process is guaranteed to not harm your property, we take extra precautions to insure that we provide a service that is 100% safe for the environment.
3. How long does the treatment last for?
Our entire roof cleaning treatment is guaranteed for one year. Since algae growth depends on many environmental conditions such as: northern exposure, amount of foliage surrounding the area, amount of other houses nearby that may have/had the same problem, and animals can carry the spores from roof to roof; the amount duration of the treatment may vary. Once treated, our solution will prevent any unwanted growth of algae or mold on your roof from one to five years.
4. Do I need to replace my roof?
Most roofs do not need to be replaced. If we come to your property and believe your roof is need of replacement instead of a cleaning, we will tell you. We believe in our service and value customer satisfaction. Our roof cleaning professionals are very knowledgeable on the different types of algae and mold and the damage that it can/will cause or what it may have already caused. This is something that will be determined during the estimate.
5. What makes Renew Reuse Roof different from other roof cleaning companies?
We do not pressure wash like many of the cleaning companies that are in the market today due to the damage that it causes to the roof. We use biodegradable chemicals that are safe for plants and animals in its diluted state, from which it comes off the roof. Renew Reuse Roof Cleaners keep construction materials out of landfills (in lieu of replacing the roof), reduce emissions from costly trips to and from the landfill caused by homeowners replacing an otherwise healthy roof, provide a more sustainable lifestyle, and reduce the homeowner’s carbon footprint. Many home owners may not know these facts, and we plan on educating them while providing a quality service. Our pricing is very competitive with other roof cleaning companies, so call us for a free estimate today.
6. Do I have to be home for the estimate?
No, you do not need to be home for an estimate. Although we prefer it in case you have any questions or concerns that we may alleviate. We can leave the estimate in a location specified by you, or email a PDF of the estimate at your convenience.
7. What are the costs?
Costs vary with every home due to size, degree of staining, steepness of roof, shingle color, location, etc. However, most homes can be completely cleaned and mold/ algae free for 1/10th of the cost of replacing the roof ($300-$500). Most homeowners think the roof needs replaced, 95% of the time their existing roof life can be prolonged five to ten years. Our estimates are free and our services are competitively priced. Give us a call today, let us show you how you can reduce your carbon footprint while improving your property.
8 . What types of payments do you accept?
We accept Cash, Check, Visa, and Mastercard at completion of services.
9. What can I do to prevent the black streaks from returning?
Even if your property shows no signs of algae or staining, just as people protect their decks and other components of a building, protection of your roof is just as important if not more. Take into consideration that a roof is much more expensive than a deck or lacquered chair sitting on your porch. As with the yearly maintenance, this is also a fraction of the cost of an initial cleaning.
10 . How long does the roof cleaning take?
Depending on the size of roof and amount of landscaping that we may have to cover, the cleaning can take between 2 to 5 hours to complete. Most houses can be cleaned in around 3 hours.
